This journey is intended to provide me with the tools, confidence, and experience needed to pursue my sports business world dreams. Over the next year, I plan to develop my creative talents to a level that will allow me to live outside the box. This will include broadening my social media footprint, opening up about my life and why I’m pursuing my new career path, advocate for what I believe, and develop a flair for expressing my aspirations. This journey will be challenging, and in many ways, terribly uncomfortable. However, I must open up so the reader can understand why I am taking this journey.
This journey represents a two-part mission. In part one, I am looking for a career change. I studied political science, and I was ready for a career in professional politics. However, the 2016 primary season changed my life. After realizing professional politics has nothing to do with helping people, I found my way of teaching history at a rural private school. It was a great experience, but it still wasn’t what I was looking for. I had that life-changing moment when I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. It caused my immune system to attack healthy nerve cells leaving me temporarily paralyzed, from the waist down. My recovery journey brought me back to sports and sparked the fire in the belly to pursue a career in sports.
In part two, I am looking to start my own sports organization, which will focus on promoting and providing opportunities for all athletes, regardless of socioeconomic status and zipcode. For too many, competitive sports are not available, and I want to change that. I plan to start in the community I grew up in and grow to targeted communities across Northern New England.
